I was raised in Wichita,
Kansas and attended church with the neighbors. I remember
how patient they were with me. A scraggly girl that
needed attention, and the Lord.
I didn't know a lot
about the Word, but I did know what I needed to do
to be saved. I accepted the Lord as my Savior when
I was very young, (I think, 7 years old) by myself
in my bedroom.
I was very sensitive
to the Lord's hand and calling and I wanted to serve
him from my earliest years. Even though my parents
did not know the Lord, they still raised me to live
"right". The combination of my knowing the
Lord and their training kept me out of trouble.
I never did drugs,
or drank. I never slept around. But that moral life
wasn't enough. I still wanted more. I was hungry,
Spiritually.
Then, through a friend,
I discovered the Foursquare Church. There I sought
the Lord with my whole heart and was filled with
the Holy Spirit. I began to grow in the Lord and my
desire to serve Him grew deeper. I would read through
our Sunday School books in a week and still needed
more. My dedication was mixed with determination.
A couple of years later,
I went to Bible College to study for the ministry.
I wanted to be a missionary. A year or so later, I
met my husband, Bob, at Bible College. We had the
same heart for ministry and the mission field.
Sure, it's been a long
time, and the Lord has led in directions we hadn't
planned, but the trip has been great anyway.
During the course of
time, we have served on staff in three churches and
as laymen in others. Between us we have had short
term mission trips to Japan, Puerto Rico, and Honduras.
I am very satisfied
knowing that the Lord has me right where he wants
me. In a good church, with a good Worship Team, working
in a good place where I can witness. I am definitely
in the ministry!!! Definitely serving Him.
